JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

A judge’s touchstone should always be the Constitution. A judge should be impartial, consistent, and fair. A judge should apply the letter of the law and should never legislate from the bench. Judicial discretion and modesty are incredibly important. A judge should exercise restraint in deciding the cases before her, meaning she should not reach a result and then find the case law that gets that result. If I am honored with the position on the First Court of Appeals, I will work hard to perform those duties for the people of Texas. You have my word on that.
