Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Stacey Mathews of Austin as judge of the 277th Judicial District in Williamson County for a term to expire at the next general election.
Mathews is an assistant district attorney for the Williamson County District Attorney’s Office and former assistant district attorney for the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Williamson County Bar Association and Texas District and County Attorneys Association. She is a past member of the American Bar Association and Houston Young Lawyers Association and Leadership Academy, and a past editor and past executive board member of the Houston Journal of International Law. She is also a board member of the Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center, and past president and co-founder of the Houston Association of Counsel for Children.
Mathews received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado and a law degree from the University of Houston Law Center, and is board certified in criminal law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
