JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

Judges, especially district trial court judges, should apply the law as written and not become activist judges who only follow the laws that they personally agree with. The law should be applied to all litigants and lawyers equally at all times. It is not the role of a trial judge to change existing law. Judges should also work regular hours and accommodate jurors by meeting with lawyers before and after trial times to minimize the inconvenience to jurors and witnesses. Motions should be ruled on timely and litigants and lawyers should be treated fairly and equally. The Houston Chronicle deemed me the "friendly but firm" judge.
