JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY |
|
As Socrates said, judges must "hear courteously, answer wisely, consider soberly, and decide impartially." A judge's role is to interpret laws, apply those laws to the facts, and and uphold the protections of our Federal and State Constitutions. Any judge who seeks to re-write the laws or the text of our constitutions acts contrary to his or her oath. I strongly believe that public service is a calling, not a business venture. This is especially true of judicial office. As a criminal practitioner, I am not beholden to the special interests that threaten the independence of our judiciary. As a Justice of the Court of Appeals, I will treat all parties before the Court with respect and decide their cases on the merits alone. |
